Beijing Wushu Sports Association and US Wushu Masters Association Sign Strategic Cooperation Framework in New York to Promote Sino-American Martial Arts Exchange

On June 7, 2025, the 4th New York International Wushu Championship was grandly held at Queensborough Community College in New York, USA.

During the event, Mr. Zhao Qingjian, representative of the Beijing Wushu Sports Association and Wushu All-Around Champion of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Mr. Zhang Liang, President of the US Wushu Masters Association, officially signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement.

This milestone marks the beginning of a new phase of deep collaboration between the two major martial arts organizations of China and the United States.

A number of distinguished guests attended the championship, including Mr. Li De, Director of the Chinese Consulate General in New York; Consul Mr. Wang Longhao; New York City Council Member Ms. Mandy Wong; Mr. Jasper, representative of the New York City Mayor; Ms. Luoman, representative of New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim; Director Li Xiqing, representative of U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng; Mr. Lü Chengrui, President of the Shandong Association of New York; and Mr. Wang Jicheng, President of the East Coast Henan Association.

The strategic agreement outlines cooperation across several core areas:

• Martial Arts Education and Talent Development: Strengthen collaboration in youth Wushu education between the two regions and promote the international development of martial arts professionals.

• Competitive Event Collaboration: Jointly plan, host, and promote high-level Wushu competitions between China and the U.S. to build internationally recognized martial arts brand events.

• Cultural Promotion and Academic Exchange: Deepen international cultural exchange through Wushu by facilitating expert visits, instructional demonstrations, and academic research.

• Industry Innovation and Market Expansion: Leverage resources from both parties to explore integrated development models combining martial arts with tourism, wellness, and technology.

The signing of this agreement not only builds a bridge for in-depth cultural integration between China and the United States but also injects new vitality into people-to-people exchanges between the two nations. Both parties are committed to the principles of mutual trust, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, and will continue working together to foster the flourishing development of martial arts in both countries.

Mr. Zhao Qingjian stated:

“Chinese martial arts are a treasured gem of world culture. Wushu is not just a sport—it is an art that embodies Chinese culture and spirit. Through this collaboration, we aim to use America’s international platform to further promote and elevate Wushu abroad.”

President Zhang Liang of the US Wushu Masters Association noted:

“This partnership is of great significance. We will work closely together to carry out practical cooperation in Wushu education, event promotion, and cultural exchange, creating a new global hub for the development of Chinese martial arts.”

This signing marks a historic milestone in the history of Sino-American martial arts exchange, symbolizing a new era of global collaboration. Both sides are poised to jointly build a broader platform for martial arts development and help bring the essence of Chinese traditional culture to the world stage.

北京市武术运动协会与美国武术家协会在纽约签署战略合作框架协议 共促中美武术交流发展

2025年6月7日，第四届纽约国际武术锦标赛在美国纽约皇后社区学院（Queensborough Community College）隆重举行。赛事期间，北京市武术运动协会代表——2008年北京奥运会武术全能冠军赵庆建先生，与美国武术家协会会长张良先生正式签署战略合作框架协议，标志着中美两大武术组织迈入深度交流合作的新阶段。

锦标赛当天，各界政要嘉宾莅临现场，有中华人民共和国驻纽约总领馆李德主任，王隆浩领事，纽约市议员黄敏仪，纽约市市长代表柯立人，纽约州议员金兑锡代表罗曼，美国国会众议员孟昭文代表李熙庆主任，纽约山东同乡会会长吕成锐，美东河南同乡会会长王继成。

本次战略合作协议内容涵盖多个核心领域，具体包括：
